The core document set

  • Packing list — number of packages, net/gross weight, dimensions.
  • Transport document — CMR (road), AWB (air), Bill of Lading (sea).
  • EORI number — required for customs declarations in the EU.
  • Customs declaration — export or import declaration, filed electronically.

Additional documents where needed

  • Certificate of origin / EUR.1 / EUR-MED — for preferential duty rates.
  • Licences and permits — dual-use goods, sanctions and restrictions.
  • Veterinary / phytosanitary certificates — food and plant products.
  • ADR documents, MSDS — dangerous goods.
  • T1 transit declaration — goods moving under customs supervision.

Common mistakes

  • Wrong tariff code, changing duties and requirements.
  • Invoice and packing list disagree on weight or packages.
  • Incoterms or delivery place not stated.
