Are the calculator results binding?
No, they are indicative. The final price and chargeable weight depend on carrier rules, cargo type and route.
Why can chargeable weight be higher than actual weight?
Air and sea carriers charge for the space cargo occupies. Light but bulky cargo is charged by volumetric weight.
